The diving center at Elba Island give beginners and experts the fantastic opportunity to experience diving in the archipelago. The coasts and bays of the island are particularly rich in marine life and curiosities, ideal for taking photographs and filming.
The diving spots are definitely numerous, but some of the sea sections enjoy special protection so the activity of diving centers is forbidden.
Experienced divers and not, however, enjoy the discovery of caves, landslides, dunes and underwater wrecks. In particular, frequent trips of Elba diving centers are the wreck of the Elviscott vessels and of the Junker 52, an airplane plummeted during the Second World War.
Very impressive is the submarine area of the Scoglietto, off the beach Ghiaie, near Portoferraio. This area has been declared a biological conservation area as it is a true natural aquarium where it is possible to admire most of the Mediterranean flora and fauna. The cliff slope that characterizes the Scoglietto, located at about 25 meters deep, is populated by horns, murines, bushes, daggers, curls. There is also a carved Christ face in the rock wall.
